About Johanson Boatworks

Since Peter Johanson established the company in the late 1970's, Johanson Boatworks has been involved in many custom construction projects as well as all aspects of yacht repair and maintenance. At our service facility we store and tend to our bareboat charter fleet as well as other numerous private yachts. In addition, we generally have one on-going construction project in one of our work bays.

From haul out in the Fall to re-launch in the Spring we meticulously care for each vessel as if it were our own. We are a full service yard with crew experienced in rigging, finish work, awlgrip, fiberglass, carpentry, mechanical, engine, and electrical systems including installations and maintenance.

Peter Johanson
Founder and president of the company, Peter has been involved in almost every aspect of boat repair/construction and maintenance in his thirty years with Johanson Boatworks. His in-depth knowledge is of crucial importance in ensuring all of the boats in the yard are repaired and maintained at the very highest level. An avid sailor, Peter began cruising the Maine coast while he was still a toddler. His affinity for the water, sailing experience, and practical skills are all put into force every day in the yard.

Mary Johanson
Co-owner and marketing manager of the company, Mary also coordinates planning and scheduling for both the charter division and the repair / construction operation. Prior to coming on board full time with Johanson Boatworks, Mary managed several small companies and worked in marketing and sales for two wholesale distribution outfits. She has spent many hours on the water, cruising Maine and the East Coast to the Bahamas. She finds it very satisfying to share her love of boating as she helps charter clients and repair customers achieve their goal to get on the water.
