Aleria, A Raymond Bunker design; this classic Bunker & Ellis 42’ yacht ALERIA has always cruised in Maine, in the summer only. Bunker & Ellis boats were custom built in the 1950s, ‘60s & ‘70s and are one of the most beautiful Maine-built boats. They are known for their graceful lines, hull design and superb workmanship. She offers a very spacious 14' open cockpit with a custom stern seat. Her varnished cabin sides, coaming, toe rails and cabin interior need paint and varnish. Her cabin is light and bright and very spacious. She was powered by twin (gas) Chryslers.
The construction: 1" cedar planks over 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" steam-bent oak frames; oak stem, keel, deadwood, and stern frame. Mahogany transom, cabin and shelter sides. Evidure screw fastened; hull was refastened below waterline by the Ralph Stanley Yard in 1996 with No. 14 screws. Cockpit sole is painted white with glass over 1/4" plywood. Topsides are white. Tan cabin and shelter tops and 11" cedar decks painted with non-skid. Cabintop, sheltertop, and cockpit floor are fiberglassed and painted. Open cockpit is 14'6" x 10' with no step into shelter area, a 3'9" stern deck and two lockers. Bottom was sanded down in 2005.
We stored Aleria during the spring & begin work in July 2010.
