Insurance Claim Repairs
Below is a small sampling of repairs we have completed
which were the result of insurance claims. We have also
inspected many boats and estimated structural repairs
at times pre-purchase in order to adjust final selling
cost. Some of these repair projects have been presented
to insurance companies and were covered as existing design
flaws. We have worked with many insurance adjusters before,
during and after the repair process and are aware of
the procedures and paperwork necessary to complete claims smoothly.
Resolution J-34
This J-34 sustained structural damage from
a grounding. The vessel suffered de-lamination around the
sump area as well as structural grid work in the bilge. To
complete the repair the following steps were taken:
We removed the cabin sole and all the wiring and plumbing
in the bilge area, and removed the engine, engine pan,
and the keel. We rebuilt the necessary damaged sections
in the sump and hull which included constructing a new
support system for the keel. Once the structural repairs
were complete, we reinstalled the engine, keel and all
associated components. In addition, we glassed a new
shaft log in the hull and re-bedded the strut. We installed new teak
and holly soles as the original were not repairable.
We refinished all repaired areas with gelcoat and varnished
the interior woodwork including the sole.

Wings C&C 36
The vessel suffered damage from grounding.
The sump was delaminated and all the bilge stringers were
loose. The repair required removing a large part of the cabinetry
in the boat including the settee and cabin sole. All
the wiring and plumbing in the bilge area was removed
in addition to the water tanks. We cut out the fiberglass
hull pan and constructed new grid work and made repairs
to the hull inside and out. We then faired, gel-coated,
and reinstalled all components.

Phoenix Bristol 33
Phoenix broke loose from her mooring in a storm and fetched up on a barge. The wooden toe rail
was damaged in many places. The bow stem head and furler were pulled out
and destroyed. Many areas of fiberglass in the foredeck
area were damaged. The steering pedestal broke and crushed
the cockpit floor and also caused damage to the wheel,
instrument guard, and pods.
The repair included fiberglass repairs and repainting
of the foredeck and cockpit sole. The topsides which
were heavily scratched were repaired and then repainted. The
toe rail was repaired and sections replaced. We installed
a new stem head, furler drum, bow roller, pedestal, angle
guards, pods.

Crayon Pirate C&C 38
The vessel broke loose from its mooring during a storm causing de-lamination in the sump
and damage to the hull bottom. The pounding the vessel endured resulted in extensive
wet core throughout much of the hull. The majority of the
repair was made from the outside and keel removal was required.
The repair was quite extensive and included a complete
rebuild of the sump. In addition re-coring of significant
sections of the hull were required (twelve foot by five
foot section in one area). We sprayed Awlgrip on the topsides
and epoxy coated and painted the keel and bottom.
