Marie Z – J34

Marie Z, built in 1987, is a J/34c; a fast and responsive shoal draft UFO keel cruising boat with single-handed ease of operation. The UFO keel is part bulb and part wing design, with more mass and strength than conventional fin or wing keels to minimize damage in groundings. It is shaped to prevent snaring pots or weeds, and provides exceptional upwind stability due to low center of gravity. An excellent single-handed cockpit layout and a big-league forward stateroom. She is elegantly crafted with gloss varnish on teak and holly soles.

2 Single Berths in Main Cabin and V-Berth in Forward Cabin, aft bunk cozy double
1 head with separate enclosed shower stall; pressurized hot and cold water, icebox; Force 10 2-burner propane stove w/oven; nav. station; complete galley gear and linens, and several opening hatches and ports w/screens. The stateroom has book shelves, small dresser w/drawers and good ventilation through two hatches and a port. Head is equipped with a Raritan PH-2 toilet and an 18-gallon holding tank with Y-valve for overboard discharges. Hot and cold pressure water system.

Proportionally large mainsail and genoa w/roller furling; Harken adjustable mainsheet traveler; mainsheet is double-ended, led to two Barient self-tailing winches on each side of the traveler; Reefs and halyards are led through quality Lewmar Spinlock clutch stoppers; masthead double spreader rig; Edson wheel steering; combined with a balanced rudder and Harken roller rudder bearings; emergency tiller that snaps onto the rudder post; throttle and shift controls are mounted on the steering pedestal; cockpit cushions, swim ladder; propane grill; folding prop; CQR Danforth anchors; inflatable dinghy with outboard; safety equipment as required by US Coast Guard for coastal cruising.
