I wanted to say thank you for another well prepared launch of Passavant. The boat was in great shape, the varnish impeccable, the rigging taut and the systems all worked flawlessly. The engine ran smoothly without a trace of overheating and the new porcelain throne flushes effortlessly. Please extend my gratitude to your entire crew.
Also after a season’s worth of sun the decks are starting to weather nicely. I have attached a photo that you might add to your website. If a prospective client ever needs a reference I would be happy to provide one and I will continue to recommend Johanson Boatworks to others.
In the fifteen years we’ve owned a boat I have never been able to literally step onboard and start cruising right away as I have these past two years. I look forward to dropping the boat off again next fall, so we can continue to receive your stellar services.
As a partner in Wilson Butler Architects, if it helps, you can say we design Cruise Ships. I see a lot of construction on marine projects, so I recognize and appreciate good workmanship.

PASSAVANT Little Harbor 38
We placed Chasseur, our 1989 Little Harbor 54, with Johanson Boatyard in 2008 for a total refit prior to an extended family cruise in the Caribbean. We selected Johanson based on prior work they had done for us with high quality and a fair price.
Our work plan included both cosmetic and functional updates. Chasseur had her topsides and deck Awlgripped and her hull stripped, faired and barrier coated. Her standing rigging was replaced and new roller furlers added for the jib and inner staysail. On deck we added a new windlass and had the teak varnished. Below decks, both engine and genset were overhauled, the plumbing and electrical systems updated and a new fresh water electric head was installed. Add to that dozens of smaller tasks and we ended up keeping the yard busy throughout the winter.
Chasseur launched in May of '09 on schedule and on budget. Since then, we have cruised New England, sailed her offshore to the Caribbean and are now cruising the island chain. Chasseur has been very reliable and the work done by the yard has proved to be very high quality. We have had very few problems with her rigging, mechanical or propulsion systems which has added to our enjoyment of our cruise.
I would highly recommend this yard for any work, regardless of complexity.
Pete/Mary: Thanks very much. The basis for buying the Hinckley was that Johanson would take the boat in the fall and return it in the spring "ready to go." I made the job harder, by having all the work done. Everything is running well and had a pleasant over night trip. Wind is predicted to be 25 out of the west tomorrow, so it was important to make this window. Please convey my appreciation to the whole Johanson gang.

We are so pleased with the quality and timeliness of all the work that was done. Our trip back went very smoothly thanks to your good work and diligence. Please feel free to use me as a reference as we have been delighted with your work, your rates, and the ease of doing business with you.

Resolution Kathleen is a wonderful example of Maine boatbuilding at its best and is a living testament to your experience, integrity, and judgment. You are a pleasure to deal with. You always answer your phone cheerfully, and you speak only the truth. You treat another's boat as if it were your own. It has been satisfying for me to be able to trust you to get the information you need and do the job right. You are the exception, not the rule.
I think you and Johanson Boatworks have very bright future. Not only do you complete jobs better, less expensively, and more timely than any yard I've ever known, you care about what you do and you do it very, very well.
